Hi, welcome to my website! I'm Lori Deutsch, a licensed acupuncturist , herbalist, and nutritionist located in Santa Monica, California. I help individuals heal existing health conditions and achieve optimum health and wellness.
I obtained my Master's Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Emperor's College in Santa Monica, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I also received a Master's in nutrition from Columbia University in New York City, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland. I have honed my knowledge of nutrition and holistic health over the course of 25 years, and I bring all of that experience to my practice.
Chinese Medicine (acupuncture & herbs) and nutrition are wonderful tools for treating disease, discomfort and pain. They are also excellent for preventing disease and strengthening mind and body. Patients often report feeling relaxed and peaceful after an acupuncture treatment. It’s a great stress-buster, and we all know what stress can do to the body.
Acupuncture:
Acupuncture is the insertion of extremely thin needles into the body at specific locations called acupuncture points. Stimulation of these points helps restore a sufficient and even flow of Qi (energy or vital force) and nutrients throughout the body, which helps strengthen the immune system, unblock stagnation, balance the body, and relieve pain and other symptoms. My needling technique is very gentle. Patients have told me that it is “pain-free.” I use only pre-sterilized, disposable needles for your safety.
Herbal Medicine
Herbs have been used to increase health and promote healing for thousands of years throughout the world. I use both Eastern and Western formulas in convenient pill, capsule, powder, and tincture forms. I use only companies with high quality products, for optimum potency, purity and safety.
Nutrition
Many symptoms may be due partially or entirely to either nutritional deficiency or dietary excess, which can be one and the same. I provide nutrition and lifestyle education, plus dietary and supplement recommendations. I look for the highest quality products, and usually try them myself before recommending them to my patients. I have always believed in good nutrition as the ultimate foundation for wellness of body and mind.
